Food service + delivery = hell.
Working until closing tonight…
I really need to find a job that doesn’t involve me barely breaking even (or losing money) after I pay for gas, oil changes, repairs, etc.. I mean, I love the people I work with, but the job just isn’t worth it at all anymore.
Think about this: I get $1.12 per run, but we deliver 10-12 miles away, which means 20+ miles round-trip. At 20 miles, I use just over half a gallon of gas, which is well over $3.50 per gallon. And most people further away rarely tip more than a few cents; maybe a dollar, at most. So by the end of the week, I usually lose money. And customers are always rude, cheap, and have a complete lack of common sense. To top it off, I only make $6.10 an hour. Don’t even try to tell me that the pay evens out when I take more deliveries and make more in tips/commission. It NEVER has, and never will.
It’s almost an insult to have a college degree yet be lowest on the totem pole at a crappy job.
I NEED OUT.
